Bridge Section

Bridge

Bridge is a very popular activity at the Club with a current active membership of over 150. We hold friendly, sociable Bridge sessions, with a broad age and skill range. There are sessions to suit all standards of play. We run in-house competitions from time to time including that on President’s Day. The bridge sessions are held in the Wilson Room of the main clubhouse.

Evening Sessions

Evening sessions of directed Duplicate Bridge are currently held on Mondays throughout the year. Sessions begin at 7.00 p.m. (please be seated by 6.50 p.m.) and finish around 10.00 p.m. Table money for these sessions is £1.00 per person.

Morning Sessions

There are two directed sessions of Duplicate Bridge played in the mornings throughout the year. These are more informal than the evening sessions and are popular with all levels of bridge players. Those less experienced players who wish to attend these sessions are made most welcome. The morning sessions are on Tuesday and Friday, and begin at 10.00 a.m. Table money is £1.00 per person, which includes tea and biscuits.

In addition, on other mornings, informal rubber bridge is played by several ad hoc groups in the Clubhouse who come to enjoy a relaxed game and a chat.

Bridge Lessons

Beginners' Bridge lessons are run by Clive Turner on Thursday evenings.

So, if you've never played Bridge or thought it too complicated - don't worry. Come along and learn the basics and meet new friends, in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. You're never too old or too young to learn Bridge!

Once you have graduated from Clive’s Beginners lessons you can advance your skills by joining in with the Intermediate sessions that Clive runs on a Thursday morning starting at 10am. You could also attend Geoff Burnett's 'Play Your Cards Right' lessons. These take place on Wednesday mornings, starting at 9.30am, and aim to help you maximise your card play.

Details of all lessons are available via Club notice boards.
